What's the difference between Hydrogel and ECG hydrogel

2. ECG Hydrogel

 

  • Definition: A specialized type of hydrogel optimized for use in electrocardiography (ECG) or other biomedical electrodes.
  • Purpose: Acts as an interface material between the skin and the electrode to enhance signal conductivity for monitoring or recording electrical signals from the body.
  • Properties:
    • High Conductivity: Often contains salts or ionic additives (e.g., sodium chloride) to facilitate electrical signal transmission.
    • Adhesion: Designed to adhere securely to the skin without causing irritation.
    • Moisture Retention: Keeps the area hydrated to maintain consistent contact and conductivity.
    • Biocompatibility: Minimizes skin irritation during prolonged use.
  • Examples:
    • ECG pads.
    • Electrodes for electromyography (EMG) or electroencephalography (EEG).
